DAY 1: ARRIVAL – HANOI

Arrival at Noi Bai Airport, meet your guide holding the welcome signboard on which is your name and transfer you to Hanoi center. Hotel check in time is 14h00.

DAY 2: HANOI FULL DAY CITY TOUR

Morning start our tour to discover Hanoi, a peaceful city with beautiful trees and lakes, the city has thousand years of history and culture. We will have the first impression of the city by authentic Cyclo ride from your hotel to Hanoi Old Quarter – where you can experience the real daily life activities of local people in the oldest area of Hanoi. Then you will ride by the French Quarter along wide and green typical French boulevard that can explain to you why this city so called “Paris of the East” before taking a walk to Ngoc Ha village. You can see the village as an Oasis in the middle of the city, that still keep all the typical daily life activities as well as the typical community sense of the village in Red river Delta along your walk. Then visit Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum – the symbol of the country and Presidential Palace, Presidential Garden, his House on Stilts and One Pillar Pagoda. After that, visit Temple of Literature – the central of culture of Hanoi that worship to Literature – the only subject for student to study in the feudal system just hundred years ago and Confucius. At lunch, enjoy the typical and authentic cuisine at Season of Hanoi Restaurant.

Afternoon visit Ethnology Museum in which you can study the great outline of 54 ethics people living in Vietnam. This museum is the only one in Vietnam that many artifacts display in there still exist in the life of local people but not extinct like most of the museums, that will create very good reflection about the life, culture, customs, religions and costumes of Vietnamese people.  Back to the center of the city for the short walk to discover the Old Quarter. After dinner, we will drive to Quoc Oai, Ha Tay to enjoy QUINTESSENCE OF TONKIN SHOW (1 hour journey) – staged entirely on water, the open – air performance provides a broad overview of village life, from folklore to music, poetry, water puppetry, Buddhism and more. Show lasts 1 hour, then we transfer you back to the city.

DAY 3: HANOI – TAY PHUONG PAGODA – DUONG LAM VLLAGE

Morning we will take one hour drive to Tay Phuong, one of ten most beautiful pagodas in Vietnam. Located on the top of the hill, this pagoda is very famous about the collection of Buddha and Arhat statues from 17th century and unique architecture. After that, back to the car for driving to the ancient village of Duong Lam, the place so called “Hoi An of the Red River Delta” as still preserve many hundred-year-old houses constructed by laterite stone – the unique material just can be found in this area. That is the reason why Duong Lam also has the name “The laterite ancient village”.  Upon arrival, take the pleasant walk by the gate of the village to Mong Phu Communal House. This is one of very few village gates still remained intact locates by the old Banyan Tree as the typical image of the village in the Red River Delta. After visiting the Communal House, just take a seat at the tea house nearby and enjoy some local fresh green tea and special candy made from sticky rice flake. This is the oldest Tea House in Vietnam as the villagers made used of the spare material from constructing the Communal House to build this Tea House from 400 years ago. Then our guide will take you to walk along some small alleys in the village. The village has constructed very special system of alleys in “fish bone” style that every single alley comes to death end for the security reason. That could be the reason why many families in the village still using the old gate with the handle from outside to help the guests open the gate themselves. The walk will concluded by the visit of the most beautiful ancient house in the village of Mr. Huyen family and enjoy the authentic home hosted lunch prepare by hospitable people in his family.

After lunch, we will take another bike ride in the rural area around the village that lead you to green rice field, interesting resting house had been constructed hundred years ago for people working on the field to rest in the shade and breeze in the hot summer day. You also can visit the thousand year old tree line that had been recognized as Heritage Trees in Vietnam before coming back to the village for the drive back to Hanoi. Return to the city in the late afternoon.

DAY 4: HANOI – HA LONG BAY BY SHUTTLE BUS

In the morning drive from Hanoi to Halong Bay by Red River Delta with beautiful rice field and activities of local people along the way. Upon arrival to Halong, embark to Dragon Pearl – an authentic Junk on Halong Bay. You will be greeted by the hospitable cruise. Enjoy the welcome drink and cruise briefing on board. Check in your lovely room then enjoy lunch while the Junk start sailing to Bai Tu Long Bay with beautiful topography and scenery of lime stone mountain. The Junk will cruise to Cap La and anchor by the fishing village there. From here, you can have a beautiful one and half hour discovery of Halong Bay on the Kayak. Back to the junk for swimming in emerald water of Halong Bay. Then you can relax on the sun deck and enjoy the beauty of Halong in the sunset while the Junk sailing to Cong Do.

DAY 5: HA LONG BAY

You can great the sunrise of Halong Bay on the sun deck with cup of tee or coffee available on the junk. Then enjoy the breakfast in fresh air and beautiful scenery of the Bay. The Junk will start cruising to Cong Dam while discovering geological values of Bai Tu Long Bay. Upon arrival, you can enjoy kayaking through the hidden lagoons and geological park in Cong Dam then back to the Junk for sunbathing, relaxing or swimming before lunch on the junk. After lunch, we will sail to Cong Dam Fishing village. The villager will take us to their village on the traditional basket boat, rowing by their village, visit the beautiful lagoon then visit the school, local fish farm and interact with local fish man in the village. The basket boat will take us back to the junk then we sail back to Cong Dam area. In the evening, enjoy the impressive private dinner in the Thien Canh Son Cave. It will be one of the highlight on your trip in Halong.

DAY 6: HA LONG – HANOI – OVERNIGHT TRAIN TO DONG HOI

In the morning we will cruise around Bai Tu Long Bay. The junk will stop in a beautiful place for your last swim on the cruise. Then we will cruise towards the harbor while A la carte lunch is served. Disembark at noon, then drive back to Hanoi for the night train to Dong Hoi.

DAY 7: DONG HOI -PHONG NHA CAVES – QUANG BINH

Arrive to Dong Hoi Station in early morning. After breakfast in town, we will drive to visit Phong Nha, the second Natural World Heritage in Vietnam. The beautiful boat trip along Gianh River give us a great change to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery of lime stone mountain and daily activities of local people along the way. Visit the cave of Phong Nha, where the longest underground river in the world starts then transfer to Phong Nha Lake House to check in. In the afternoon, explore the village while participating in various social and cultural activities such as pond fishing, planting and gardening, or even playing volleyball with the local youth.

DAY 8: PHONG NHA LAKE HOUSE – TAM CO CAVE – NUOC MOC COLD SPRING

After a peaceful night in a traditional house with modern conveniences, leave for an all day biking and trekking excursion into the park.  Bike to the war memorial site of Tam Co Cave along a road following the historic Ho Chi Minh Trail.  Next, bike to the Nuoc Mooc Cold Spring and Eco-Trail for a guided hike and a refreshing swim in the cold spring.  Along the bike route home you may be able to see families of the endangered Ha Tinh Langur monkeys. Come back to your home stay in the evening at Chay Lap.

DAY 9: QUANG BINH – VINH MOC – CUA TUNG – HUE

This morning, we drive to visit Vinh Moc, the famous tunnel that local people used in the war time. Then visit Cua Tung, the beautiful beach nearby. Drive to Hue, the first city in Vietnam has been recognized to be world heritage by UNESCO.

DAY 10: FULL DAY HUE CITY TOUR

Morning take a cyclo trip from your hotel over famous Trang Tien bridge and Dong Ba market. The cyclo will take you around the ancient citadel of Hue, getting over the streets, local shops for the over view of daily life and architecture of this famous citadel. Stop at Noon gate of Imperial Citadel for the walking tour to the inner area of the citadel where the Nguyen Dynasty ruled between 1802 and 1945 including Flag Tower, Noon Gate, Nine Dynastic Urns, Nine Holy Cannons, Thai Hoa Palace, and Forbidden Purple City. At noon, visit Dong Thien Pagoda then experience the vegetarian lunch prepared by the nun. The Pagoda also run some kinder gartens for poor children and our visit will contribute directly to children in these classes. You also can interact with the nuns before visiting Tu Duc Tomb, discover beautiful and impressive architecture of this unique construction in Hue as well as the story of the King there. The rest of the day is free at leisure. Free dinner.

Option on request with surcharge: In the evening, enjoy the home hosted dinner in the beautiful Garden House of Mr. Phan Thuan An, the famous professor in Hue. This house used to be the house of Princess Ngoc Son.

DAY 11: HUE – DA NANG – HOI AN

Morning we drive to visit Thien Mu pagoda, the symbol of Hue city then take a walk around Kim Long Village where you can visit the original ancient house of the former mandarin, mingle with local people and experience their daily activities in the village. Then drive to Danang. Upon arrival to Danang, visit famous Cham Museum with great selection of sandstone sculptures from 4th to 13th century then have lunch at Apsara Restaurant. Drive to Hoi An, on the way stop at China Beach. Check in the hotel and take the orientation walk to the town. The rest of the day is free at leisure.

DAY 12: FULL DAY HOI AN CITY TOUR

Morning take a walking tour to Hoi An ancient town. Visit Thang Loi Handicraft workshop in Phan Chu Trinh Street. You will have the chance to experience all the typical traditional handicraft of Hoi An, such as wood carving, mat weaving, lantern making, silk worm raising, spinning and weaving, table cloth making and embroidery picture. These handicrafts made great contribution to upgrade living standard of local people since Hoi An turn to be popular destination for the tourists. Then take a walk to Hoi An ancient town. We will start the walk from small alley from Phan Chu Trinh Street to Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street. This is the typical ancient street of Hoi An, that can show you great atmosphere of the ancient town. Visit the Japanese Cover Bridge – the symbol of Hoi An. After that visit Tan Ky, the most well known and authentic ancient house in town. Then take a walk along the Nguyen Thai Hoc – the ancient street of Hoi An to the market of the town. Visit the local market and Phuc Kien Congressional Assembly Hall, the communal place for Chinese community from Fukien province in China as well the worshiping temple to Thien Hau, the Goddess protecting people on the sea – that was so important for the Chinese Merchant and Fishman in the past. Then you have free time for discovering the town on your own or shopping.

Afternoon depart for the cyclo trip to Cam Nam Village (this is exclusive discovery feature of ICT). The cyclo will take you from the town to Cam Nam Bridge. You will have the first stop for the photo opportunity of the activities and scenery on the Thu Bon River. Then the cyclo will take you along the Thu Bon River bank, where you can have another photo stop for panorama view of Hoi An from other side of river. You will ride along the riverside and cycle through local villages of Cam Nam. This is untouched area by tourism with very friendly and hospitable local people. You can see their daily life activities or even viewing the interior of their house and their life through always opened doors. The cyclo trip will be ended at green small canal covered by water coconut trees. Embark on the boat and take a cruise to Thu Bon River. You can experience the local daily life along river, such as fishing, farming, catching clam …. Come back to Hoi An around sunset time.

DAY 13: HOI AN COOKING CLASS – MY SON – HOI AN

In the morning, you will join to authentic cooking class in The Market Restaurant. We visit Hoi An’s colourful and bustling market where participants learn about the uses of different fresh noodles, how to recognize and buy fresh fish, herbs and their uses in Vietnam, fresh and dried spices – their uses in our recipes and medicinal purposes, rice and grains, see and taste exotic fruits.

On our return to The Market Restaurant we tour the many different Street Food counters, seeing live cooking demonstrations, learning how to make many different recipes with food tastings along the way. See bread for our Banh Mi or baguettes being made in front of you and then taste the baked bread fresh from the oven. Rice and water being ground to make rice water to make noodles, rice flour crepes, dumplings and rice paper dried on bamboo and grilled to eat with Hoi An chilli sauce. See our famous dish of Cao Lau, the noodles being made by hand and steamed over an open fire. We offer a choice of traditional Vietnamese teas served with homemade Hoi An cupcakes made freshly in front of you. Taste sweet treats and candy that we eat at Tet our Vietnamese New Year celebrations. And much more…

The cooking lesson runs about 2.5 hours – our cooking teachers first demonstrate each dish before we prepare the same dishes ourselves. After the lesson we sit down and eat what we have cooked. You will receive a copy of the recipes and a Vietnamese cooking utensil to take home.

In the afternoon, we will drive to My Son, the Holly land of Champa kingdom date back from 4th to 13th century. Arrive to My Son before sunset and not many other tourist, you will have great chance to discover and feel the great ancient atmosphere of the complex of nearly 70 difference towers there, where you can find the best brick sculpture in the world and learn about the influences of Hinduism to their. My Son also had been recognized to be culture world Heritage in 1999. Back to Hoi An in late afternoon.

DAY 14: HOI AN – DA NANG – SAIGON

Morning transfer to Danang airport for the flight to Saigon. Upon arrival take tour to Reunification Palace, Notre Dame Cathedral and Central Post office then have lunch at Pho 2000 Restaurant. In the afternoon take a tour to China town, the special identity of Saigon. Visit Thien Hau Pagoda, where hundreds of local people come and burn the incense for their luck, prosperity and happiness. After that, take a walk around Cho Lon, the biggest whole sale market in town. It is great combination of busy and bustle atmosphere of the market and traditional Chinese Architecture there.

DAY 15: SAIGON – CAI BE – VINH LONG – SAIGON

This is an ideal option for those who wish to have a real experience on the landscape, local people, and rich culture of the Mekong Delta. The tour will be incomplete without cycling on narrow road along small side canal to visit the local traditional handicrafts.

A 2-hour drive southwest from Saigon will take you to the Mekong Delta, the largest rice basket of the country with friendly farmers who always wave hello when you come across. This tour will offer you a chance to explore the unique lifestyle and culture at the Cai Be land as well as traditional handicrafts on Tan Phong Island. The most special thing about this tour you will feel relaxed and excited while cruising along the river is to take a deeply insight into the great combination of local cultures and sceneries in this gorgeous water way region. It’s all sure to bring you unforgettable moments ever. Board your wooden charming boat, the Mekong Queen, at Ba Ton’s local pier and start cruising on Mekong River while sampling local fresh fruits, letting the cool breeze touch your hair, you will find the place a truly destination to spend the day relaxing.

Leave the boat for a while to visit the local business where you can interact with the local people to learn more about their daily life. Continue with your boat through the “heart” of the town’s trading activities with lots of lots of floating vendors lining up their boats in the middle of the river with their agricultural products hung on bamboo poles. This is not the biggest floating market but it is good to understand the life of the river, one of the tourist magnets of the Mekong Delta. Disembark the boat when reaching Tan Phong Island where you will start a very interesting cycling tour through small village shady road. You will be surprised by the way the locals trade and advertise their local products. Ride along the concrete road of 1m width, you will take the opportunities to visit local families of making traditional products such as handicraft items made from water hyacinth; house roof made from palm leaves; hammock made from coconut ropes; rice papers; and local hats. After a sad farewell to your crews, enjoy a home-hosted lunch with Mekong Delta specialties at an ancient house before driving back to Saigon.

Note: Motorbike will be an option for those who can’t bike. Guests ride as passenger behind a safe motorbike driver.

  • 09:30 am: Arrive at Ba Ton Bridge and start boarding the Mekong Queen
  • 09:45 am: Stop to visit the local rice wine making family (nhà nấu rượu)
  • 09:55 am: Continue your cruise to the local rice husking factory (nhà chà lúa thô sơ)
  • 10:30 am: Stop for a quick visit of a local brick factory (subject to availability)
  • 10:40 am: Board the cruise passing by Cai Be floating market and onto Tan Phong Island
  • 11:30 am: Start a leisure 45’ cycling trip with stops en route to visit the local handicraft making families.
  • 12:30 pm: Embark on the Mekong Queen for a 15min cruise to the mainland.
