DAY 1: ARRIVAL – HANOI

Fly to Hanoi. Upon arrival to the airport, you well be met by our guide and transfer to you hotel.

DAY 2: FULL DAY OF HANOI CITY TOUR

Morning start our tour to discover Hanoi, a peaceful city with beautiful trees and lakes, the city has thousand years of history and culture. We will have the first impression of the city by authentic Cyclo ride from your hotel to Hanoi Old Quarter – where you can experience the real daily life activities of local people in the oldest area of Hanoi. Then you will ride by the French Quarter along wide and green typical French boulevard that can explain to you why this city so called “Paris of the East” before taking a walk to Ngoc Ha village. You can see the village as a Oasis in the middle of the city, that still keep all the typical daily life activities along your walk. Then visit Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum – the symbol of the country and Presidential Palace, Presidential Garden, his House on Stilts and One Pillar Pagoda. After that, visit Temple of Literature – the central of culture of Hanoi. Lunch at Season of Hanoi Restaurant.
Afternoon visit Ethnology Museum in which you can study the great outline of 54 ethics people living in Vietnam. Back to the center of the city for the short walk to discover the Old Quarter. Your tour will be concluded with great experience of Water Puppet show – the unique art of Vietnamese people from Red River Delta.

DAY 3: HANOI – HALONG BAY

In the morning drive from Hanoi to Halong Bay by Red River Delta with beautiful rice field and activities of local people along the way. Upon arrival to Halong, embark to the Junk on Hon Gai International Harbour. You will be welcomed by the cruise staff, enjoy the welcome drink, cruise briefing then check in your cabin. The junk will start cruising on magnificent Bai Tu Long bay while you enjoy lunch on board. It also a great chance to admire the fascinating rock formations in the bay. In the afternoon you will visit the secluded cave of Thien Canh Son then take a short cruise to Hon Co Island where you can relax on a white sandy beach, swimming or kayaking. Back to the Junk, relax and get ready for dinner.

DAY 4: HALONG – THO HA – HANOI – HUE

In the morning you can admire the sunrise on the bay from sun deck of the Junk. Enjoy the bay’s morning landscape with a cup of tea or coffee then have the breakfast in the open air. After breakfast, you will have a chance to visit Vung Vieng fishing village in a rustic rowing-boat, meet the local people and pass through the floating school and fish farms. Then back to the junk for more leisure time for swimming in the middle of the bay. The cruise will be back to the harbor while an a la carte lunch is served. At noon, disembark to the port and drive back to Hanoi. On the way back to Hanoi, visit Tho Ha the famous village of terracotta products before 20th century. Upon arrival, take a short local ferry to the village. Visit a local home of Mr. Viet, where you can see how rice paper has been made and have the interesting talk with him about his family and his life. Mr. Viet was NVA (Northern Vietnamese Army) who liberate Saigon in 1975. After spend time in his house and talk to the owner for deeper understand about life of local people in the village, we will visit 400 years old pagoda that still remains all original architecture and Buddha statues, specially the holly and peaceful atmosphere that have not been touched by the tourist. Discover village through narrow and zigzag alleys with the old houses had been constructed from broken part of terracotta from the past. Walking over to the end of the village to the dike, where you can see the village from distance over the beautiful lake. Drive to Noi Bai Airport for flight to Hue.

DAY 5: HUE CITY TOUR

Morning take a cyclo trip from your hotel over famous Trang Tien bridge and Dong Ba market. The cyclo will take you around the ancient citadel of Hue, getting over the streets, local shops for the over view of daily life and architecture of this famous citadel. Stop at Noon gate of Imperial Citadel for the walking tour to the inner area of the citadel where the Nguyen Dynasty ruled between 1802 and 1945 including Flag Tower, Noon Gate, Nine Dynastic Urns, Nine Holy Cannons, Thai Hoa Palace, and Forbidden Purple City. At noon, visit Dong Thien Pagoda then experience the vegetarian lunch prepared by the nun. The Pagoda also run some kinder gartens for poor children and our visit will contribute directly to children in these classes. You also can interact with the nuns before visiting Tu Duc Tomb, discover beautiful and impressive architecture of this unique construction in Hue as well as the story of the King there. Back to the hotel and the rest of the day is free at leisure.

DAY 6: HUE – DANANG – HOIAN

Morning visit Thien Mu pagoda – the symbol of Hue city before take a walk around Kim Long Village where you can visit the original ancient house of the former mandarin, mingle with local people and experience their daily activities in the village. After that, depart to Danang through famous Hai Van Pass. Upon arrival, visit Cham Museum with great collection of sand stone artifact from 4th to 13th century then enjoy lunch at Apsara Restaurant. Drive to Hoi An, the little attractive town very famous as living museum which was originally one of major trading centers of Southeast Asia in the 16th century. Check in your hotel in Hoi An. In the evening, take the orientation in ancient town of Hoi An.

DAY 7: FULL- DAY HOI AN CITY TOUR

Morning take a walking tour to Hoi An ancient town. Visit Thang Loi Handicraft workshop in Phan Chu Trinh Street. You will have the chance to experience all the typical traditional handicraft of Hoi An, such as wood carving, mat weaving, lantern making, silk worm raising, spinning and weaving, table cloth making and embroidery picture. These handicrafts made great contribution to upgrade living standard of local people since Hoi An turn to be popular destination for the tourists. Then take a walk to Hoi An ancient town. We will start the walk from small alley from Phan Chu Trinh Street to Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street. This is the typical ancient street of Hoi An, that can show you great atmosphere of the ancient town. Visit the Japanese Cover Bridge – the symbol of Hoi An. After that visit Tan Ky, the most well known and authentic ancient house in town. Then take a walk along the Nguyen Thai Hoc – the ancient street of Hoi An to the market of the town. Visit the local market and Phuc Kien Congressional Assembly Hall, the communal place for Chinese community from Fukien province in China as well the worshiping temple to Thien Hau, the Goddess protecting people on the sea – that was so important for the Chinese Merchant and Fishman in the past..
Afternoon depart for the cyclo trip to Cam Nam Village (this is exclusive discovery feature of ICT). The cyclo will take you from the town to Cam Nam Bridge. You will have the first stop for the photo opportunity of the activities and scenery on the Thu Bon River. Then the cyclo will take you along the Thu Bon River bank, where you can have another photo stop for panorama view of Hoi An from other side of river. You will ride along the riverside and cycle through local villages of Cam Nam. This is untouched area by tourism with very friendly and hospitable local people. You can see their daily life activities or even viewing the interior of their house and their life through always opened doors. The cyclo trip will be ended at green small canal covered by water coconut trees. Embark on the boat and take a cruise to Thu Bon River. You can experience the local daily life along river, such as fishing, farming, catching clam …. Come back to Hoi An around sunset time.

DAY 8: HOI AN – DA NANG – SAIGON

Morning transfer to Danang airport for the flight to Saigon. Upon arrival take tour to Reunification Palace, Notre Dame Cathedral, Central Post office. Lunch at Pho 2000 Restaurant. Afternoon take a tour to China town, the special identity of Saigon. Visit Thien Hau Pagoda, where hundreds of local people come and burn the incense for their luck, prosperity and happiness. After that, take a walk around Cho Lon, the biggest whole sale market in town. It is great combination of busy and bustle atmosphere of the market and traditional Chinese Architecture there.

DAY 9: SAIGON – CAI LAY (MEKONG DELTA) – SAIGON

Morning we drive 2 hours from Saigon to Cai Lay, a small but fertile town in the Mekong Delta through the new national freeway. Upon arrival, drop off at the town’s local pier and start boarding our small motorized boat for a 30 min boat trip on one of the small branches of the Mekong River. Witness the lively life on the water of the locals. Disembark at Cam Son bridge where you start a leisure cycling trip (alternative transportation is our “xe loi”, a fun local transportation) into a deep Mekong Delta exploration. The ride is about 7km on shady narrow village roads curving over tiny canals and past fruit gardens and sleepy villages. Many kids will greet you with a big smile and “xin chao” or Hello. During the village road, you will have a chance to stop and visit local factories, fish farm, rice paddies to learn briefly about the local economy, business. Arrive at a lush orchard with diverse tropical fruits. Have a friendly chat with the owner – a former veteran with interesting topics about his motherland as well as his daily life both past and present. He will be very happy to walk you around his garden. Enjoy the opportunity to taste fresh fruits picked right from the trees. Then relax with a sampan ride to visit a local ancient house, have a brief interaction with these friendly residents in their 100 year‐old house before tasting their hosted lunch with traditional dishes of the Mekong land. Bid farewell to the family then drive back to Saigon.

DAY 10: SAIGON – SIEM REAP

Morning transfer to the airport for the flight to Siemreap. Arrive at the Siemreap airport and transfer to hotel. In the afternoon, visit Angkor Wat. This temple is visually, architecturally and artistically breathtaking. It is a massive three-tiered pyramid crowned by five lotus-like towers rising 65 meters from ground level. Angkor Wat is surrounded by a moat and an exterior wall measuring 1300 meters x 1500 meters. The temple itself is 1 km square and consists of three levels surmounted by a central tower. The walls of the temple are covered inside and out with bas-reliefs and carvings. Nearly 2000 distinctively rendered Apsara carvings adorn the walls throughout the temple and represent some of the finest examples of Apsara carvings in Angkorian era art.
The temple interior is not as densely carved as the first level exterior, but still sports hundreds of fine carvings of Apsaras and scenes from Hindu mythology. At the upper-most of your tour of the temple, the central tower on the third level houses four Buddha images, each facing a different cardinal point, highlighting the fact that though Angkor Wat was constructed as a Hindu temple, it has served as a Buddhist temple since Buddhism became Cambodia’s dominant religion in the 14th century. Some say that it is good luck to pay homage to all four Buddha images before departing Angkor. This is also the best place in Sieamreap for viewing and enjoy the sunset. Return to Siem Reap.

DAY 11: SIEM REAP (ANGKOR TEMPLES)

In the morning, we will visit Angkor Thom (Big Angkor), is a 3 km2 walled and moated royal city and was the last capital of the Angkorian empire. After Jayavarman VII recaptured the Angkorian capital from the Cham invaders in 1181, he began a massive building campaign across the empire, constructing Angkor Thom as his new capital city. There are five entrances (gates) to the city, one for each cardinal point, and the victory gate leading to the Royal Palace area. Each gate is crowned with 4 giant faces. The South Gate is often the first stop on a tour.
After visiting Bayon, stop to have the quick visit of Terrace of the Elephants – an impressive, two and a half-meter tall, 300 meter long terrace wall adorned with carved elephants and garudas spanning the front of Baphuon, Phimeanakas and the Royal Palace area at the heart of Angkor Thom. Then transfer to visit Ta Prohm – the jungle temple. Intentionally left partially unrestored, massive fig and silk-cotton trees grow from the towers and corridors offering some of the best ‘tree-in-temple’ photo opportunities at Angkor. Flocks of noisy parrots flit from tree to tree adding to the jungle atmosphere. Ta Prohm is well worth an extended exploration of its dark corridors and open plazas. The temple was originally constructed as a Buddhist monastery and was enormously wealthy in its time, boasting of control over 3000 villages, thousands of support staff and vast stores of jewels and gold. This is also the place where the movie Tomb raider had been filmed. Enjoy lunch at have Cafe Angkor restaurant.
In the afternoon we will take the beautiful drive along then beautiful scenery of rural area in Siem Reap with green rice field and sugar palm trees to visit Banteay Srei. Banteay Srey loosely translates to ‘citadel of the women, but this is a modern appellation that probably refers to the delicate beauty of the carvings. The walls are densely covered with some of the most beautiful, deep and intricate carvings of any Angkorian temple. The temple’s relatively small size, pink sandstone construction and ornate design give it a fairyland ambiance. The colors are best before 10:30 AM and after 2:00 PM, but there are fewer tourists in the afternoon.

DAY 12: SIEM REAP – TONLE SAP LAKE

Morning boat trip to Chong Knies village, the floating village on Tonle Sap. On the way you can stop to experience the Ox Cart ride along the typical scenery of rural area in Siem Reap along rice field and local villages. The highlight of the tour will be the villages, the enjoyable off road track, the people and the wonderful smile of the children. Drive to boat station then take the boat trip along the canal leading too Tonle Sap – the biggest fresh water lake in South East Asia. Enjoy the rural scenery as well as activities of local people along the ride before getting to the floating village of Chong Knies. In here, people living in the floating house that can be moved based on the water level of the lake, so the village is much closer in the rainy season then the dry season. You also can see the local school, Buddhist Monastery and fishing boat along your boat ride. The boat also will stop at the local crocodile farm for you to visit before getting back to Siemreap for lunch at local restaurant.
In the afternoon, our guide will take you for the walk in the central of Siemreap by well-known Pub Street and authentic Old Market of the town that selling all the interesting local food and products as well as some souvenir shops. Then visit the National Museum, they can provide you great outline and summary about history, religion as well as Angkor Temples at the end of your trip.

DAY 13: SIEM REAP– LUANG PRABANG

Morning transfer to the airport for the short flight from Siemreap to Luang Phrabang. Meet upon arrival, you are welcome to Luang Prabang, the ancient first capital of Lane Xang kingdom, the center of religious life in Laos and today the World Heritage City. Transfer to the town and check in your hotel.
In the afternoon, we take a sightseeing tour of the sacred city of temples, of which nearly fifty temples still remain in the town and surrounding areas. Visit Wat Visoun, the 16th century temple served as a small museum for religious artifacts; Wat Aham, the early 19th century temple, whose two guardian figures at the foot of the steps which represent two characters from the Ramayana – Hanuman, the Monkey God and a fierce Yaksa; Wat Xiengthong, the 16th century temple which, more than any temples in LuangPrabang, epitomizes all the elegance and grace of LuangPrabang architecture; Phousi Hill, the 328 steps leads to the summit of Phousi hill that dominates the sky-line of LuangPrabang overlooking the finest panoramic view in the whole Luang Prabang.

DAY 14: LUANG PRABANG – PAK OU CAVE

Following breakfast, we depart hotel to the boat landing, and take an excursion (a few hours) by boat, upstream on the Mekong to visit Pak Ou cave in the side of a lime stone cliff and opposite of the mouth of the Mekong and Ou rivers. The sanctuaries at Pak Ou consist of two large caves, both repositories for thousands of Buddha images, which range from mere centimeter to two meters in height.
En route, Lao typical villages are barely visible behind a screen of foliage. Slender canoes bobbing by the shore, bamboo poles and floats mark the location of nets and fish traps. Our first stop will be at Ban Muangkeo, a well-known village for Lao traditional rice whisky, namely Laoh-Khao to be distilled. We are welcome to taste it and also take away. Lunch is at a riverside restaurant.
We arrive back at LuangPrabang in late afternoon, and continue by car to outskirt of town to visit Ban Xangkhong, a well-known village for its wood paper making and also Lao silk weavings with natural dyes.

DAY 15: LUANG PRABANG – KUANGSI WATERFALL

A morning breakfast, before we take a drive (30 km South) to visit Kuangsi Waterfall, which, though not very high, is spectacular and really beautiful with its green surroundings as the preserved National park. We stop en-route, to visit a fresh produced market namely Talad Phosy, and also visit Ban Na Oune, a small village of a hill-tribe group “Hmong”, probably the best-known minority group in Laos. Just before arriving at Kuangsi waterfall, there is another village of Khmu minority group, namely Ban Tha Pane that we will visit.
Our picnic lunch is served at the shady park nearby Kuangsi waterfall. There is plenty of time for relaxing and a swim in cool water, before we head back to Luang Prabang in the late afternoon. The rest of the day is spent by visiting various craft-shops, including silver smiths’ and also Hmong market in town, where some skilled embroidery-works of Hmong ladies can be seen.

DAY 16: SIEM REAP – DEPARTURE

After breakfast, we depart hotel to visit the National Museum, the former Royal Palace which houses the collection of valuables including the famous Prabang Buddha statue, gifts received from foreign dignitaries…etc, if time permits, the rest of the day is spent free for own experience in this charming town, till transfer to Luang Prabang airport for departure flight home.
