Today, to join in this special market – CHUONG CONICAL HAT, we must wake up so early and depart from 6 am. There is one GOOD fact about this village that every family there still make conical hats but the POINT here is they only MAKE conical hats at THEIR LEISURE TIME. The man of the family gone to city finding works at the construction sites, women stay home take care of children and do other works in local areas. May be a family or specifically a woman of a family makes ONE CONICAL HAT PER DAY when they have time. Beside this fact the most interesting thing of the village is the CONICAL HAT MARKET is not a daily market but a SCHEDULED ONE, close 2,5,7 and 9 of each lunar month and open from 5 AM to around 09 AM. Both of the two facts make it difficult to organize a tour there technically RIGHT and matched with the days. When we visited the village at about 11:30 AM, it is just like a normal village as many other but you do not feel or see something which make you think you are in a place where a conical hat is made. It totally depends on LUCK to see people working and the tour must be going early to catch the market time and exactly scheduled-day. After leaving Chuong Conial Hat, we move to another famous village – VAN PHUC SILK – renowned for its traditional silk weaving techniques and high quality products, making it one of the most visited craft village in Vietnam. Established over a century ago, this tranquil locale is home to massive banyan trees, wells, communal houses, and local artisans producing a wide range of apparel and souvenirs using traditional looms. Van Phuc was first introduced to the European market between 1931 and 1932 during an international silk exhibition in Marseille, France, where its silk products had gained popularity amongst traders due to its smooth and lightweight texture. Today, this village does not only sell their products to tourists in Hanoi, but also export them to many regions across the world. When visiting this village, travellers can find ready-to-wear clothing such as dresses, shirts, and ties, as well as handicrafts and souvenirs at reasonable prices. Thanks to its rather authentic setting, visiting Van Phuc Silk Village Hanoi almost feels like you’ve stepped back in time – perfect for those looking to escape the bustling and often chaotic Hanoi cityscape. Then transfer to Noi Bai Airport for flight to next destination. End of 5-Day Hanoi Culture Trip.
