Have breakfast, and then get on a car to Dong Van Plateau, which has an elevation of 1.025 meters. The plateau is also home to the H’mong and Tay ethnic minorities. You will have a quick stop at the Heavenly Gate of Quan Bo, and then reach Yen Ninh Valley located amid the forested cliffs.
A must-see will be Pho Bang Town which is called “the town falling into oblivion” by most tourists. This town shelters the Hoa and H’mong ethnic groups from the city bustle; that is why the villagers have the laidback life. The on-foot adventure will go on to the Palace of H’mong King Vuong Chi Sinh. Erected in 1914, this Palace is now an evidence of the glorious past of the H’mong.
Stay overnight at a guesthouse in Dong Van
If getting there on Sunday, attend Dong Van Sunday market which is highly exciting in the early morning. Ethnic people will carry their products (vegetables, chicken cages, pigs, buffaloes, etc.) for bartering in the market. This is also a wonderful chance to try the traditional “Thang Co” food (made from horse meat, beef, pig, etc.) and drink wine.
Enjoy breakfast, and then head to Meo Vac Village which is home to the ethnic minorities of the Lo Lo and Pu Peo groups whose culture, tradition, and costumes are well-retained. If you’re looking for something exciting and different, visit the bordering point with Yunnan Province (China) from this village. The karst landscape is fabulous all year round.
Next, descend the Meo Vac Valley and contemplate the incredible terraced rice fields, twisting rivers, and serene villages rested at the bottom of the hills. The on-foot adventure will go on to Bao Lac which crosses the well-known Ma Pi Leng Pass. The natural scenery will just go beyond your imagination. And if the weather is good, you will be able to feast eyes with the paradisiac views of mountains, clouds, and romantic Nho Que River which winds its way to the sky, just like a silk ribbon. The picture of the skyline formed where the sky meets the land will be your valuable asset.
